Pepperdine cruises past San Diego Christian 91-49
MAILIBU, Calif. -- Lamond Murray Jr. scored a career-high 23 points on 11-of-13 shooting and Pepperdine never trailed in its 91-49 win over San Diego Christian on Monday night.
Murray scored four straight baskets and Stacy Davis hit a 3-pointer in the opening 11-4 run and Pepperdine didn't look back. The Waves outscored the Hawks 56-26 on points in the paint, 12-6 in points off of fast breaks and 16-12 in points off of turnovers.
Davis and Kameron Edwards each scored 14 for the Waves (1-1) who outrebounded the NAIA Hawks 51-35 and shot 58 percent from the field. Jeremy Major contributed six of Pepperdine's 24 assists on 39 field goals.
San Diego Christian made 16 of 61 (26 percent) shots and missed all 19 of its attempts from 3-point range.
Antonio Austin scored 11 and Shayne Travers added 10 for San Diego Christian, which played the game as an exhibition match.
