Wintering, Tyson lead Portland past Loyola Marymount 92-78
LOS ANGELES -- Alec Wintering scored 29 points, D'Marques Tyson 23 -- the pair combining for 11 3-pointers -- and Portland took control in the second half to defeat Loyola Marymount 92-78 on Saturday.
Jarrel Marshall added 13 points and Bryce Pressley 11 for the Pilots (11-15, 5-8 West Coast Conference), who went 15 of 31 from 3-point range and shot 53 percent.
Portland had seven 3s, shot 50 percent and Wintering and Tyson combined for 24 points in the first half, which ended tied at 46.
Wintering, Tyson and Marshall hit consecutive 3s as the Pilots stretched a five-point lead to 14 with 12:45 to play and the lead stayed in double figures.
Portland shot 57 percent in the second half. Wintering had seven rebounds and seven assists, Tyson eight rebounds and Marshall eight rebounds and five assists.
Adom Jacko had 35 points, his sixth-straight game with at least 20 for the Lions (10-13, 3-10), who have lost four straight.
