NJIT easily handles Maine-Fort Kent 89-60
NEWARK, N.J. -- Tim Coleman scored 21 points and NJIT had little trouble with Maine-Fort Kent, knocking off the USCAA member 89-60 on Sunday.
Coleman was 7 of 11 from the floor, 7 of 8 from the line and grabbed nine rebounds. Damon Lynn had 15 points -- on five 3-pointers -- while Emmanuel Tselentakis and Rob Ukawuba added 10 points apiece.
Maine-Fort Kent was led by Jake Rioux with 16 points on four 3-pointers. Qaadir Ali had 15 points and five assists, and Lowell Hall added 10 points.
The Highlanders (4-3) used a 15-3 run early to take control and the lead hit 20 on Winfield Willis' 3-pointer with 3:41 left in the first half. Lynn's 3-pointer with 2 seconds to go put NJIT up 47-21 at intermission.
Tselentakis' 3-pointer midway through the second half pushed the lead over 30 as both teams opened their benches.
