McLean's 25 and 11 power Chattanooga by ETSU, 76-68
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- Tre' McLean scored 25 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead Chattanooga to a 76-68 win over rival East Tennessee State on Saturday.
Greg Pryor and Dee Oldham each added 10 points for Chattanooga (23-4, 12-2 Southern Conference), which has won 10 of 11 and has the best record to open a season since the Mocs went 26-3 in 1982-83.
Chattanooga is 18-0 this season when scoring 70 or more points.
Ge'Lawn Guyn led the Buccaneers (16-10, 9-4) with 24 points. Isaac Banks had 14.
The Mocs held a double-digit lead for much of the second half. Eric Robertson hit a 3-pointer with 10:57 to go which made it 59-43, the largest lead of the game for Chattanooga.
Guyn made two free throws which cut the gap to 64-56 with 4:41 left, but Johnathan Burroughs-Cook made three at the line to extend the Mocs lead back to 11.
