Jackson scores 16 points; SE Louisiana beats Nicholls 69-61
HAMMOND, La. -- Zay Jackson scored 16 points and Southeastern Louisiana pulled away midway through the second half and beat Nicholls State 69-61 on Saturday night.
Jackson was 5 of 8 from the floor. Dimi Cook added 15 points for Southeastern Louisiana (6-18, 4-7 Southland Conference), which outrebounded the Colonels 44-26.
Ja'Dante' Frye scored 12 points to lead Nicholls State (7-19, 3-9).
The Colonels led 52-49 with 7:46 to play before Jackson converted a 3-point play and made a 3-pointer for a 55-52 Lions lead. Tre O'Neal split a pair of free throws to pull Nicholls State to 55-53. Moses Greenwood scored five points and Jackson added three as part of a 9-3 spurt to stretch the lead to 64-56 with 2:38 remaining and the Lions cruised from there.
Nicholls State had a 14-point lead late in the first half, and led 48-38 with 14:40 left.
