UTEP gets hot in 2nd half, rolls over Texas-SA 81-74
EL PASO, Texas -- Earvin Morris Jr. had 23 points as UTEP got hot in the second half to roll over Texas-San Antonio 81-74 on Saturday.
Morris was 9 of 13 from the floor as the Miners made 70 percent of their field goals in the second period, finishing with 25-of-44 shooting.
Lee Moore added 15 points, Dominic Artis and Omega Harris had 13 each for UTEP (18-13, 10-8 Conference USA), which is the No. 6 seed in the conference tournament and plays 11th-seeded Florida International on Wednesday.
The Miners opened the second period making three straight treys as part of a 27-8 run to lead 56-39 midway in the second half as UTEP was 11 of 17 from beyond the arc for the game.
Ryan Bowie had 22 points, Nick Billingsley added 19 and Phillip Jones had 14 for Texas-San Antonio (5-26, 3-15).
