Gill leads New Orleans to 94-61 win over NAIA Blue Mountain
NEW ORLEANS -- Christavious Gill missed just two shots, totaling 22 points as New Orleans overwhelmed NAIA-member Blue Mountain College 94-61 on Tuesday night.
Gill nailed 4 of 5 from beyond the arc, hit 6 of 8 field goals and made all six free-throw attempts. Erik Thomas made all five shots from the floor for 16 points for New Orleans (4-7). Tevin Broyles added 14 points and Michael Zeno chipped in 12.
The Privateers raced to a 49-25 lead at the break and stretched that to 67-37 at the 11:49 mark and coasted from there. New Orleans hit 29 of 51 from the floor, making 7 of 16 from long range, while limiting the Toppers to 20-of-52 shooting. The Privateers also won the rebound battle, 43-31.
C.J. Barnes was 5 of 6 from the field for 10 points to lead Blue Mountain.
The Privateers open Southland Conference play at Lamar on Monday.
