Gardner-Webb rolls over NAIA Middle Georgia State 101-78
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. -- Tyrell Nelson had 19 points and Harold McBride added 18 as Gardner-Webb broke the century mark for the third time this season, beating NAIA's Middle Georgia State 101-78 on Monday night.
Nelson was 8 of 12 from the floor and McBride hit 3 of 5 from long range. Isaiah Ivey and Adonis Burbage chipped in 13 points apiece, and Laquincy Rideau dished out nine assists.
Middle Georgia State got the first points of the night, but the Bulldogs took a 4-2 lead on two Nelson free throws and an Ivey layup and never trailed again. They were ahead 53-38 at halftime and pushed it to 82-57 midway in the second half.
Gardner-Webb (6-8) picked up 56 points in the paint while limiting Middle Georgia State to 16. The Bulldogs also got 24 points off turnovers.
Kieston Standfield led Middle Georgia State with 19 points. Cory Reid added 12.
