Gardner-Webb cruises past Furman 73-53
GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Adonis Burbage scored 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting with four 3-pointers, and Gardner-Webb beat Furman 73-53 on Saturday, ending the Paladins' three-game winning streak.
Tyrell Nelson scored 14 points, David Efianayi had 12, and Dylan Poston added 10 for the Runnin' Bulldogs (4-6), who shot 67 percent in the first half and led 34-28 at halftime.
Poston, Nelson and Harold McBride each hit 3s and Gardner-Webb pulled ahead by 13 in the second half, then led 54-41 after a 3-pointer by Burbage with 8:18 left. Burbage scored 11 straight points amid a 13-0 run and Gardner-Webb cruised, outscoring the Paladins 8-3 in the final 2:33.
The Runnin' Bulldogs shot 57 percent from the field, outrebounded the Paladins 30-23 and scored 17 points off fast breaks to Furman's six.
Stephen Croone scored 16 with six assists for Furman (5-4), and Devin Sibley added 10 points.
