Columbia fends off Brown 66-63 behind Lo's 23 pts
NEW YORK -- Maodo Lo scored 23 points, and Grant Mullins hit two free throws with three seconds to play as Columbia held off Brown 66-63 on Friday night.
Obi Okolie missed a 3-point attempt with a chance to tie the game.
JR Hobbie led Brown with a career-high 23 points, shooting 7 for 10 from 3-point range. His seven 3s were also a career high.
Jeff Coby's dunk with nine minutes to play capped Columbia's 11-4 run to put the Lions up 51-45. Cedric Kuakumensah had a dunk for Brown, bringing the Bears to within 60-59, but they could never reclaim the lead.
Coby finished with 12 points and eight rebounds for Columbia (21-9, 10-3 Ivy League). Nate Hickman added 10 points for the Lions.
For Brown (8-19, 3-10), Okolie finished with 13 points and Kuakumensah had 10 rebounds and eight points.
