Dartmouth Big Green @ Brown Bears
Brown needs overtime to post an 84-83 upset of Dartmouth
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Cedric Kuakumensah dunked with 1:06 left in overtime to lift Brown to an 84-83 upset victory over Dartmouth Friday night.
The loss damaged the Big Green's hopes of passing Penn and moving into the top half of the Ivy League standings.
Freshman Evan Boudreaux hit a pair of free throws with 19 seconds left in regulation to give Dartmouth a 75-73, but JR Hobbie hit a 3-pointer with 7.9 seconds left in regulation to force the extra period.
Freshman Guilien Smith, who had not made a 3-pointer in Ivy League play all season, knocked down two from beyond the arc in overtime to keep Dartmouth within striking distance, but his driving layup attempt to win the game with two seconds left would not fall.
Steven Spieth scored 21 points to pace the Bears (8-17, 3-8). Tavon Blackmon added 19 points and Kuakumensah added 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Boudreaux led Dartmouth (9-16, 3-8) with 20 points.
