Quinn scores 21 points; San Diego St. beats UNLV 67-64

LAS VEGAS -- Aqeel Quinn hit five 3-pointers and scored 21 points to lead No. 2 seed San Diego State past seventh-seeded UNLV 67-64 in a Mountain West tournament quarterfinal on Thursday night.

San Diego State (25-7) will face No. 3 seed Colorado State in a semifinal game Friday night.

Tied at 49, Trey Kell hit a bucket with 5:56 remaining and Quinn drained a trey to spark an 11-4 run and stretch the Aztecs' lead to 60-53 lead with 1:53 to go. The Rebels pulled within 61-59 with 34 seconds left. The Aztecs answered with a 6-2 surge before the Rebels' Jordan Cornish hit a 3 to end it.

Quinn was 8 of 10 from the floor, including 5 of 6 from long range. J.J. O'Brien scored 15 points and Winston Shepard chipped in 12 with 10 rebounds for the Aztecs.

Christian Wood scored 21 points to lead UNLV (18-15).
