S. Dakota State beats S. Dakota, advances in Summit tourney
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Deondre Parks scored 21, and George Marshall had 14 points and eight rebounds on Monday night to lead top-seeded South Dakota State past No. 5 seed South Dakota 78-65 in a Summit League tournament semifinal.
South Dakota State (23-9), which improved to 20-1 this season when leading at halftime, will play either No. 2 seed North Dakota State or third-seeded Oral Roberts in the championship game on Tuesday.
South Dakota (17-16) made just two of its first 13 field goal attempts and the Jackrabbits led 17-5 with 12 minutes left in the first half.
South Dakota State went on a 15-4 run later in the half for a 22-point lead with 2:58 left and led 44-29 at halftime.
The Coyotes, which shot just 37 percent and made 4 of 19 from 3-point range, trailed by double digits throughout the second half.
Tyler Larson led South Dakota with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
