LAS VEGAS -- Christian Wood scored 28 points on 9-of-13 shooting to help seventh-seeded UNLV beat No. 10 seed Nevada 67-46 in the opening round of the Mountain West Conference tournament on Wednesday.
Jordan Cornish added 13 points, including three 3-pointers, for UNLV (18-14), which will play second-seeded San Diego State in the quarterfinals Friday.
The Runnin' Rebels used a 12-3 run to close the first half and led 27-17 at the break.
Eric Cooper Jr.'s 3-pointer with 10:24 remaining pulled Nevada (9-22) within three, but the Wolf Pack would get no closer.
