Duquesne upends George Washington 78-62 in Atlantic 10 play
PITTSBURGH -- Micah Mason scored a career-high 24 points with four 3-pointers and led four into double figures as Duquesne knocked off George Washington 78-62 on Wednesday night, avoiding a season sweep and denying the Colonials a chance at the conference lead.
Derrick Colter added 18 points, also with four treys, for the Dukes (8-14, 3-8 Atlantic 10). Jeremiah Jones added 10 points as did L.G. Gill off the bench. Duquesne shot 51 percent from the field (29 of 57) with 10 3-pointers and 18 assists.
George Washington (17-7, 7-4) shot 32 percent (23 of 72) and made just 7 of 25 3-pointers. Kethan Savage and Kevin Larsen led George Washington with 16 points each. The Colonials made just eight field goals in the first half.
George Washington hit just two of its first 20 shots. With VCU losing to LaSalle in double overtime, George Washington missed a chance to join four teams tied for first.
