PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- Devon Walker nailed 6 of 9 from beyond the arc to score a career-high 27 points and lead Maryland-Eastern Shore to a 92-82 win over Coppin State on Saturday.
The Hawks (13-10, 6-2 Mid-Eastern Conference) were hot from long range, making 11 of 18. Ryan Andino made 4 of 7 treys, finishing with 14 points, Dominique Elliott had 13 and Mike Myers had 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Coppin State held a 48-45 halftime advantage and was in command until UMES' defense stepped up in the second half, holding the Eagles scoreless for six minutes. The Hawks were trailing 55-50 when Myers drove for a layup to start a 13-0 run and give UMES a 63-55 lead with 12:31 left in the game.
Arnold Fripp, the Eagles leading scorer, fouled out at the 12:30 mark after scoring just two points.
Sterling Smith led Coppin State (3-18, 2-6) with 23 points.
