Parks leads NC Central to a 79-77 win over Coppin State
DURHAM, N.C. -- Jordan Parks scored 25 points, including the go-ahead putback, and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead North Carolina Central to a 79-77 win over Coppin State on Saturday for its 30th straight home victory.
Taariq Cephas made a basket with 1:28 remaining to cap Coppin State's 7-1 run for a 77-75 lead. Parks then hit the tying layup with 1:18 left and his putback of Karamo Jawara's miss put NCCU up with 11 seconds left. Coppin State missed an open 3-pointer as time expired.
Dante Holmes had 19 points and seven rebounds, Jawara added 15 points and 10 boards and Nimrod Hilliard scored 11 points and dished out six assists for NCCU (15-5, 7-0 Mid-Eastern).
Christian Kessee added 19 points, Sterling Smith had 17, including four 3s, and Cephas pitched in 10 points and 10 rebounds for Coppin State (2-17, 1-5). The Eagles shot 10 of 20 from 3-point range.
