UNC-Wilmington defeats Drexel 64-57
WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Freddie Jackson scored 19 points -- including eight at the free-throw line -- as North Carolina-Wilmington held off Drexel 64-57 on Saturday night.
Addison Spruill iced the game with four free throws in the final 34 seconds as he notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Seahawks (8-7, 3-1 Colonial Athletic).
Jackson hit a 3-pointer to begin a 13-5 run over a five-minute span midway through the second half as the Seahawks put the game away. Spruill scored a layup to cap the run with Wilmington up by 11, 46-35. Jackson made it 52-40 with a layup three minutes later.
Drexel (3-12, 1-3) would get as close as six, 55-49 on a Tavon Allen 3-pointer with less than two minutes to play.
Drexel's Damion Lee matched his career best with 32 points. No other Dragon scored more than eight.
