Yoho leads Wright State over Detroit 70-57
DAYTON, Ohio -- JT Yoho had 18 points and eight rebounds on Friday night and Wright State pulled away for a 70-57 victory over Detroit in the Horizon League opener for both teams.
Yoho's layup midway through the second half sparked a 9-0 run to put the Raiders (9-6, 1-0) up 55-40. Detroit (6-9, 0-1) answered with eight straight points to get within seven but got no closer.
Michael Karena added 14 points and Joe Thomasson had 10 points and nine rebounds for Wright State.
Juwan Howard Jr. led the Titans with 15 points. His 3-pointer with 16:13 left gave Detroit its last lead at 35-34. Wright State followed with a 12-2 run, taking the lead for good.
Howard was 4 of 5 from 3-point range and Detroit was 8 of 13. But the Titans were 11 of 42 from inside the arc and Wright State shot 50 percent overall (29 of 58).
