Vermont stifles Hartford in 65-46 win
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- Kurt Steidl scored 16 points and Vermont held Hartford to its lowest point total of the season in a 65-46 win on Saturday.
Dre Wills and Hector Harold had 10 points apiece for the Catamounts (12-10, 7-2 American East) and freshman Cam Ward had a season-best 13 rebounds to go with eight points. Ward scored 19 points in the first meeting with Hartford.
Justin Graham had 10 points for the Hawks (11-11, 4-5), who lost their fourth straight.
Hartford shot 26 percent in the first half then hit just 5 of 31 shots in the second half to finish at 20.7 percent (12 of 58) for the game.
Vermont led 26-20 at the half and Hartford got no closer than five after that. Steidl, who had 13 points in the second half, hit two 3-pointers and Harold had a layup and a 3-pointer in an 11-0 run that made it 50-34 at 6:45.
