Albany clobbers UMBC 67-49
BALTIMORE -- Sam Rowley posted a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds as Albany (N.Y.) clobbered Maryland-Baltimore County 67-49 on Wednesday night to stay two games ahead of Vermont atop the America East Conference.
Evan Singletary and Peter Hooley added 15 points apiece for the Great Danes (20-8, 14-1), who finished at 49.1 percent from the field, though only 57.1 percent from the line.
Albany took a 15-point lead, 30-15, on a Singletary 3-pointer with 4:34 left in the first half and led 34-22 at the break.
The Great Danes went on 9-4 run for a 43-26 advantage to start the second half and stretched it to 67-43 on a Hooley 3-pointer with 2:13 to play.
Albany had 39 rebounds, 27 of which came off the defensive boards. UMBC finished with 23.
Cody Joyce led the Retrievers (4-24, 2-13) with 14 points and five rebounds.
