Jacksonville St comes back, beats Miles 88-71
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. -- Avery Moore and Jamal Hunter each scored 17 points and Hunter grabbed 17 rebounds to lead Jacksonville State in an 88-71 comeback over Division II Miles on Saturday.
The score was tied at 40 at the break and the Golden Bears held the lead in the second half until Deitrich Cole sank two free throws to tie the score with 12:06 left to play. Jacksonville State's Jeremy Watson made two from the line with 10:28 left to put the Gamecocks ahead, and they led the rest of the way.
Watson scored 12 points and Undra Mitchem added 11 for Jacksonville State (1-3).
Maiscei Grier led the Golden Bears (1-2) with 19 points, Hasain Bunnell added 16 and Albert Peterson chipped in 14.
The Gamecocks dominated on the boards 51-31, and their 21 offensive rebounds led to 19 second-chance points.
