Richmond Spiders @ George Washington Revolutionaries
George Washington outlasts Richmond, 73-70, in 2OT
WASHINGTON -- Kevin Larsen tied a career-high with 22 points, six of which came in double overtime, and grabbed 11 rebounds to help George Washington beat Richmond 73-70 on Thursday night.
A layup by Terry Allen gave Richmond a 62-59 lead with 2:30 left in the second overtime, but Larsen scored four points and Joe McDonald hit a 3 during a 9-0 run by George Washington (13-4, 3-1 Atlantic 10) that made it 68-62.
Kendall Anthony hit two free throws for Richmond and, after McDonald made the first of two free throws, Allen made a layup to pull the Spiders (9-8, 2-2) within three, 69-66, with 19 seconds remaining.
Larsen and Patricio Garino each made two free throws from there to seal it.
George Washington led 50-47 with 9 seconds left in regulation but Anthony was fouled on a desperation heave from just inside half court and made all three free throws to force overtime.
