Cal State Northridge outlasts Samford, 79-72
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Stephen Maxwell and Stephan Hicks each had 24 points on identical 8-of-11 shooting from the field to lead Cal State Northridge to a 79-72 victory over Samford on Saturday.
Hicks also added eight rebounds and four assists. Landon Drew finished with 10 points and nine assists for the Matadors (2-2), who shot a blistering 61.4 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point range. Cal State Northridge also got the free throw line 29 times on the afternoon, hitting 22 of them.
Tyler Hood led Samford with 19 points. Brandon Roberts finished with 16 off the bench and Christen Cunningham had 11 for the Bulldogs (1-3).
Cal State Northridge led 37-31 at halftime, eventually pushing their lead as high as 13 midway through the second half.
