Cal Poly pounds Delaware 78-60
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Ridge Shipley scored 21 points, including 5-of-9 shooting from 3-point range, to lead Cal Poly to a 78-60 victory over Delaware on Friday night.
Brian Bennett added 12 points and David Nwaba finished with 10 points for the Mustangs (2-1), who shot just 39.7 percent from the field but pulled down 16 offensive rebounds while limiting themselves to just four turnovers.
Cazmon Hayes scored 22 for Delaware (0-2). However the Blue Hens struggled offensively, making just 16 field goals, 10 of which came from behind the arc.
With the score 15-13, Cal Poly put together a 33-9 scoring stretch over the final 10 minutes of the first half to take a 48-22 lead at the break. The Mustangs extended their lead in the second half as high as 33.
