Hardy, McNeese State escape Lamar, 70-69
LAKE CHARLES, La. -- Kevin Hardy made the game-winning layup with six seconds left to give McNeese State a 70-69 victory over Interstate-10 rival Lamar on Monday night.
Anthony Holliday gave Lamar a 69-66 lead on a layup with 32 seconds remaining. Desharick Guidry answered with two free throws nine seconds later to pull McNeese State within 69-68. Lamar turned the ball over on its next possession and, after Hardy's go-ahead basket, Donovan Ross missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Hardy finished with 19 points for McNeese State (13-15, 7-10 Southland). Desharick Guidry had 23 points and 13 rebounds, and Keelan Garrett added 17 points.
Holliday hit five 3-pointers and finished with 26 points for Lamar (15-14, 9-8). Tyran de Lattibeaudiere had 14 points 11 rebounds and five assists and Donovan Ross scored 13.
McNeese State hosts Central Arkansas (2-25, 2-14) on Sunday to close out the regular season and Lamar plays Sam Houston State (23-6, 14-2).
