Lamar rolls over Incarnate Word 79-66
BEAUMONT, Texas -- Donovan Ross scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Lamar to a 79-66 win over Incarnate Word on Saturday night.
Dontavious Sears made 4 of 5 from long range for 14 points and Anthony Holliday and Quan Jones had 12 apiece for Lamar (15-13, 9-7 Southland Conference), which has won four of its last five games.
Lamar, leading 37-33 at the break, started the second half with a 23-9 run to go ahead 60-42 with 12:34 left in the game. Incarnate Word mounted a comeback but could never close the gap.
Kyle Hittle led UIW (17-8, 9-6) with 19 points. Denzel Livingston, averaging 22.7 points a game, was held to 14. Jontrell Walker added 12 for UIW, which had won eight of its last 10 prior to this setback.
Lamar dominated on the boards, 44 to 22 and had six blocked shots.
