Late run lifts Lamar over McNeese State, 58-53
BEAUMONT, Texas -- Tyran de Lattibeaudiere had 16 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots, Marcus Owens scored 18 and Lamar used a late run to beat McNeese State 58-53 Saturday night.
Quan Jones added 11 points for Lamar (14-12, 8-6 Southland Conference), which won its third straight while snapping a five-game losing streak to the Cowboys.
McNeese State (10-15, 4-10) led by nine with 14:32 left before de Lattibeaudiere scored six and Owens five during 11-2 run which tied it at 41 about four minutes later.
A layup by Desharick Guidry gave McNeese State a one-point lead with 4:28 to play, but Owens hit a 3-pointer and de Lattibeaudiere made 4 of 4 free throws as Lamar scored 10 of the next 12 to make it 57-50 with 15 seconds remaining.
Guidry led McNeese State with 13 points, eight rebounds and five assists, but was just 4-of-14 shooting and committed four turnovers, including three in the final 3:13.
