NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Jacob Parker and Ty Charles had 12 points apiece as Stephen F. Austin extended its win streak to 17 with a 61-51 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday night.
SFA (18-3, 8-0 Southland) is tied with Murray State for second in the country for most consecutive wins. The Lumberjacks lead the country in consecutive conference games won with 30 in two seasons.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi stayed within striking distance, trailing 32-29 with 14:32 left in the game. Dallas Cameron scored five straight points, Trey Pinkney made a layup and Charles nailed a trey for a 42-29 lead with 9:48 remaining. The Islanders came right back and closed to 53-46 following a Bryce Douvier trey. Parker answered with a jumper and Pinkney made two free throws with 39 seconds left to seal the win.
Rashawn Thomas had 18 points and John Jordan added 12 for the Islanders (11-9, 6-2).
