Houston Baptist holds on for 74-73 win over New Orleans
HOUSTON -- Cody Stetler made two free throws with 14 seconds remaining and then blocked the following shot to give Houston Baptist a 74-73 win over New Orleans in Southland Conference play on Saturday night.
Nate Frye completed a three-point play with 35 seconds left to give New Orleans a 73-72 lead, but Stetler answered for the win.
Colter Lasher had 18 points and Jourdan Stickler added a career-high 14 for Houston Baptist (7-8, 2-3).
New Orleans started strong, shooting 56.5 percent in the first half, and led 40-34 at the break. The Huskies made only 10 of 32 from the floor in the first half. HBU improved to 12 of 27 (44.4 percent) in the second half while New Orleans went cold, making just 8 of 32 shots (25 percent) in the final period.
Frye had 20 points, Kevin Hill and Tevin Broyles had 13 apiece for New Orleans (5-9, 1-3).
