LA-Lafayette cruises by Louisiana College, 85-57
LAFAYETTE, La. -- Devonta Walker scored 18 points and grabbed a team high six rebounds to lead Louisiana-Lafayette to a 76-55 win over Louisiana College in the season opener for both teams on Friday night.
Brian Williams and Johnathan Stove each added nine points for the Ragin Cajuns, who shot 56 percent from the field and out rebounded Louisiana College by 22. Louisiana Lafayette also held a 38-5 advantage scoring off the bench, and outscored the Wildcats 50-32 in the paint
Anthony Gaines Jr. led the Wildcats with 15 points Kevin Cottonham added 14, and Kevin Lewis added 12. Louisiana College committed 20 total turnovers and had just five assists as a team.
The Ragin Cajuns held a 35-28 lead at the break but took charge in the second half, extending their lead to as many as 28 points.
