Hofstra rolls to 84-56 win over CCSU
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Juan'ya Green scored 19 points to lead five Hofstra players in double figures as the Pride rolled to an 84-56 victory over Central Connecticut State on Wednesday.
Ameen Tanksley scored 15 points, Moussa Kone 12 and Brian Bernardi and Dion Nesmith 11 apiece for the Pride (9-4), who won their second game in a row.
Faronte Drakeford had 20 points to lead the Blue Devils (2-11), who have lost four straight. Matt Mobley added 16 points.
Hofstra led 47-25 at halftime after shooting 54.3 percent, including 9 of 19 3-pointers for 47.4 percent. The Pride, the nation's top 3-point shooting team coming in at 42.5 percent, cooled off from long range in the second half, making just 1 of 8 but still finished at 53.2 percent overall. It was Hofstra's seventh game this season with at least 10 three-pointers.
The nine nonconference wins are the most for the Pride since 2008-09.
