Sacred Heart rallies to beat Bryant 84-75 in OT
FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Phil Gaetano tied the game on a 3-pointer in the final seconds of regulation as Sacred Heart rallied from a 15-point second-half deficit to beat Bryant 84-75 in overtime on Saturday.
Bryant was on top 62-47 with 10:10 to go in the second half but then went 10 minutes without a field goal as the Pioneers (11-14, 5-7 Northeast Conference) rallied to take a 68-67 lead on a tip shot by Evan Kelley with 1:30 remaining. With the Bulldogs (11-12, 8-4) on top again by three, Gaetano sank a 3-pointer with six seconds left in regulation to tie it up 71-71 and send the game into overtime.
In overtime, Bryant's stone-cold shooting continued and Kelley scored seven points to help give the Pioneers the win.
Jordan Allen scored 24 points for Sacred Heart. Cane Broome added 17 points and Kelley had 16.
Dyami Starks led Bryant with 26 points.
