Long Beach State tops Nevada 68-57
LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Mike Caffey had 17 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals to lead Long Beach State to a 68-57 win over Nevada on Wednesday night.
Temidayo Yussuf had 11 points and 10 rebounds and Tyler Lamb had 14 and four rebounds for the 49ers (5-4) including 3-of-5 shooting from 3-point range.
D.J. Fenner finished with 17 points, including two 3-pointers, and Marqueze Coleman tallied 15 points and five rebounds for the Wolfpack (2-5). A.J. West added nine points, 14 rebounds and four blocks for the Wolfpack.
The 49ers jumped out to a 31-22 lead at halftime and held on the entire second half.
Nevada had 11 team blocks as opposed to Long Beach State's three, but the Wolfpack had 19 turnovers while the 49ers coughed it up just eight times.
