Vaughn leads UNLV past Albany 75-59
LAS VEGAS -- Rashad Vaughn scored 29 points, Christian Wood added 19 with 10 rebounds as UNLV pushed past Albany 75-59 on Saturday night.
The Runnin' Rebels (4-1) shot 52.9 percent from the field and hit nine 3-pointers. Dwayne Morgan chipped in 10 points for UNLV and Cody Doolin dished out six assists. Vaughn was 11 of 18 overall and hit five 3-pointers.
UNLV used a 12-4 run ignited by a 3-pointer from Jelan Kendrick along with Wood's three-point play to take an early 19-9 lead. Vaughn added a 3-pointer that helped the Rebels to a 37-25 halftime lead.
Albany (2-3) pulled within seven after Peter Hooley's three-point play, but Morgan responded with a layup, two free throws and a jumper. Another 3-pointer by Vaughn made it a 19-point game with 4:25 remaining.
Hooley finished with 18 points and seven rebounds and Sam Rowley added 17 and 10 for the Great Danes.
