Lynn, Coleman lift NJIT to 78-71 win over Yale
NEWARK, N.J. -- Damon Lynn scored 23 points and Tim Coleman had a career-high 22 to lead NJIT to a 78-71 win over Yale on Friday.
Matt Townsend's layup with 1:30 to go pulled Yale, which led 38-33 at halftime, within 70-67 but Winfield Willis made four free throws and his teammates hit two of four to clinch the game. Yale got two free throws from Javier Duren but missed three 3-pointers until a meaningless layup for the final points.
Daquan Holiday added 12 points for NJIT (9-9), which has won four straight.
Duren led Yale (10-5) with 21 points with Makai Mason and Greg Kelley coming off the bench to score career highs. Makai hit 7 of 9 shots for 17 points while Kelley was 5 of 8 with four 3s for 16.
The Bulldogs have one more chance to get 11 wins, the most in school history before league play.
