Duquesne holds off Fordham 81-66
BRONX, N.Y. -- Derrick Colter was one of four Duquesne players with 16 points as the Dukes beat Fordham 81-66 on Wednesday night.
Dominique McKoy, Micah Mason, L.G. Gill and Colter combined to make 22 of Duquesne's 26 field goals. Colter added seven assists and McKoy and Gill grabbed seven boards apiece for the Dukes (11-17, 6-11 Atlantic 10).
Bryan Smith had 17 points and Ryan Rhoomes had 15, on 7-of-8 shooting, and 13 rebounds for the Rams (9-19, 4-13), who shot a mere 19.4 percent from 3-point range on 31 attempts.
Gill, who scored 13 of his 16 points in the second half, hit back-to-back 3s to push the lead to 16 midway through the second half. The Dukes hit 12 of 12 free throws in the final 1:37.
Duquesne hit 19 of 25 attempts at the free throw line compared to 6 of 8 for Fordham.
