Gill leads Duquesne to 81-63 win over Howard
PITTSBURGH -- L.G. Gill made 8 of 11 from the floor to total 17 points and lead Duquesne to an 81-63 victory over Howard on Tuesday night.
TySean Powell had 13 points, including four dunks, Micah Mason added 12 points and Eric James chipped in 11 for Duquesne (3-1).
The Dukes never trailed and had a 41-30 halftime lead. Howard's Damon Collins nailed a 3-point jumper to close to 54-47 with 13:35 left in the game. Mason answered with two consecutive 3-pointers to pull back ahead 60-47 at the midway point of the second half. The Bison could not close the gap again.
The Dukes made 32 of 61 field goal attempts (52.5 percent) while limiting Howard to 22 of 58 from the floor. The Dukes also won the rebound battle 41 to 36.
James Daniel III led Howard (4-4) with 22 points, James Miller had 14 and James Carleton added 10.
