Prairie View holds off Jackson State 61-55
JACKSON, Miss. -- Montrael Scott had 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting and Prairie View A&M held on to beat Jackson State 61-55 on Saturday night.
Prairie View (8-16, 6-5 Southwestern Athletic Conference) had a 36-28 lead at halftime and stretched it to 52-42 just after the midpoint of the second half. Tre Hagood added 14 points for the Panthers.
Jackson State (8-17, 6-6) closed within 55-52 on Treshawn Bolden's putback with 2:30 left. Raeford Worsham had a steal and transition basket for the Tigers waived in the final minute for an offensive foul.
Worsham finished with 11 points and 15 rebounds, and Janarius Middleton added 13 points and eight boards for Jackson State. The Tigers outrebounded Prairie View 49-34 but shot just 6 of 17 from the free-throw line while the Panthers shot 25 for 42.
