New Mexico State thumps CS Bakersfield, 74-58
LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- Pascal Siakam scored 20 points and Remi Barry scored nine of his 14 points in the final eight minutes as New Mexico State thumped Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday night to maintain its two-game lead over Missouri -Kansas City atop the Western Athletic Conference standings.
The Aggies (17-10, 9-1) led by four at intermission, but pushed the lead to 12 on Siakam's dunk with 12:46 left, 52-40.
New Mexico State shot a crisp 49 percent from the field (24 of 49), including 4 of 11 from beyond the arc. The Aggies got to the free-throw line 27 times and converted 22 attempts.
Daniel Mullings finished with 14 points for New Mexico State and Ian Baker added 11.
Kregg Jones scored 11 points to lead CS Bakersfield, but was the lone Roadrunner to reach double-figure scoring. Bakersfield shot 22 of 50 from the field and 10 of 16 from the line.
