Alexander, Braun lead Grand Canyon past UMKC, 78-57
PHOENIX -- Daniel Alexander and Joshua Braun combined to score 26 of their 39 points in the first half as Grand Canyon cruised to a 78-57 win over Missouri-Kansas City on Thursday night.
Braun finished with 20 points and a career-high 10 rebounds for Grand Canyon (12-10, 3-2 Western Athletic Conference). Alexander scored a season-high 19 on 7-of-10 shooting, including 3 of 5 3-pointers, and grabbed 10 boards.
The Antelopes, which made 16 of 30 (53 percent) field goals -- including 7 of 11 from 3-point range -- in the first half, used a 10-0 run over the final 3 minutes to take a 43-23 lead into halftime.
UMKC (8-14, 3-2) trailed by at least 15, and as many as 28, in the second half.
Grand Canyon outrebounded the Kangaroos 41-25 and outscored them 28-11 in second-chance points.
Martez Harrison led UMKC with 13 points.
