Longwood holds off Liberty, 78-72
LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Leron Fisher scored 24 points and added four steals, his 11th game this season with three or more, to help lead Longwood to a 78-72 victory over Liberty on Tuesday night.
Shaquille Johnson finished with 18 points, including hitting all seven of his free throws, and Quincy Taylor added 14 points for Longwood (8-20, 4-11 Big South), which snapped a four-game losing streak.
The Lancers finished with 15 total assists on their 25 field goals. All five starters had at least one assist.
Longwood held a 39-26 lead at halftime, taking a double figure lead on two Johnson free throws. The Lancers led by as many as 20 in the second half before Liberty ended the game on a late push, cutting the final deficit to six on a 3-pointer by Ryan Kemrite.
Andrew Smith had 21 points and 12 rebounds for Liberty (7-21, 1-14).
