Chattanooga fends off The Citadel, 78-73

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Casey Jones scored 23 points on 10 of 16 shooting from the field to lead Chattanooga to a 78-73 victory over The Citadel on Saturday.

Greg Pryor and Ronrico White each added 14 points for the Mocs (15-8, 8-2 Southern Conference), who have won five straight against The Citadel and six of seven overall. White also finished with a team-high five rebounds.

Both teams shot over 55 percent from the field, but The Citadel (8-13, 3-7) was plagued by 15 turnovers and finished minus-8 in points at the free throw line. The Mocs are now 12-3 when shooting over 45 percent and 5-0 when hitting the 50 percent plateau.

Chattanooga held a commanding 47-30 lead at halftime. The Bulldogs battled back in the second half, trimming the lead below 10 with 3:09 to play, but got no closer than five.

Ashton Moore led The Citadel with 18 points.
