Kennesaw State holds on to beat D II Paine College 80-75
KENNESAW, Ga. -- Yonel Brown hit a long 3-point jumper with 53 seconds left and made two late free throws to secure Kennesaw State's 80-75 win over upset-minded Division II Paine College on Tuesday night.
Brown, who finished with 27 points, made 4 of 7 from long range. Nigel Pruitt had 17 points and Damien Wilson added 14 with eight rebounds for Kennesaw State (8-16).
Paine had a 37-32 lead at the break but the Owls started the second half with a 7-0 run to take a 39-37 lead and went on to lead 66-55 following Brown's 3-pointer with 9:06 remaining. Paine came charging back to tie at 70 when Arnis Libazs drove for a layup with 2:37 left in the game. Pruitt answered with a trey to retake the lead.
Libazs had 24 points and nine rebounds, Denzel Dillingham scored 13 points and Nathan Powell chipped in 12 for Paine.
