Florida Gulf Coast cruises past Lipscomb 78-60
FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Jamail Jones scored 18 points and Florida Gulf Coast cruised past Lipscomb 78-60 on Thursday.
Florida Gulf Coast (15-7, 5-1 Atlantic Sun) used an 8-point run to lead 17-8 after 5 1/2 minutes en route to a 37-25 lead at the break.
Lipscomb (10-11, 4-2) cut its deficit to six on Josh Williams' layup with 7:40 left, but FGCU went on a 21-7 run -- including nine points from Julian DeBose -- to take control of the game.
Jones was 7 of 10 from the floor for FGCU. Bernard Thompson had 16 points, DeBose finished with 14 and Marc-Eddy Norelia added 13. Brett Comer had 12 assists.
J.C. Hampton led Lipscomb with 13 points, Malcolm Smith had 11 and Williams ended with 10. The Bisons were just 7 of 29 on 3-point attempts.
