North Florida beats Jacksonville 86-63
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Dallas Moore scored 20 points to lead four players in double digits as North Florida beat Jacksonville 86-63 in the Atlantic Sun Conference opener for both teams Saturday.
Beau Beech added 17 points for the Ospreys (9-9, 1-0). Demarcus Daniels had 16 points and Jalen Nesbitt 11.
North Florida trailed through much of the first period, finally going ahead 31-29 on a Daniels layup with 3:17 left in the half.
Leading 35-31 at the break, the Ospreys went 9-0 to start the second period and a 3-pointer by Beech two minutes later gave them a 50-39 advantage with 16:04 to play. A 3-pointer by Trent Mackey with 6:05 remaining capped a 10-3 run that extended North Florida's lead to 74-53 and the Ospreys cruised to the win.
J.R. Holder had 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Dolphins (6-12, 0-1).
