Akron takes down Kent State, 61-52
AKRON, Ohio -- Pat Forsythe scored 12 points to help lead Akron to a 61-52 win over Kent State on Tuesday night.
Deji Ibitayo added 11 points off the bench, and Noah Robotham finished with nine points and four assists for the Zips (17-7, 8-3 Mid-American Conference), who have won five of six overall and nine consecutive at home.
The Zips shot 40 percent -- compare to 35.4 percent for Kent State -- with 13 assists on their 22 field goals. Akron is a perfect 15-0 this season when shooting a higher percentage than its opponent.
With the score tied at 37 and 13:53 to play, Akron embarked on a 21-4 run capped off by a Nyles Evans layup assisted by Robotham to take a 17 point lead and effectively put the game away.
Devareaux Manley scored 20 points to lead Kent State (16-8, 7-4), which had just four more field goals (17) than turnovers (13).
