AKRON, Ohio -- Pat Forsythe scored 14 points on a perfect shooting night, 6 of 6 from the field and 2 of 2 at the free throw line, and also pulled down nine rebounds to lead Akron to a 72-52 victory over Western Michigan on Tuesday night.
Deji Ibitayo came off the bench to add 12 points for the Zips (10-4, 1-0 Mid-American Conference), who shot 48.2 percent from the field while holding the Broncos to a cool 35.3 percent. Akron also hit 10 total 3-pointers and won the rebounding battle 39-29.
Akron was in control for much of the night, taking a 10 point lead into the locker room at the half and added a 12-0 run to open the second period, extending its lead to 22.
Tucker Haymond scored 21 points to lead Western Michigan (9-5, 0-1). David Brown added 14 points and four assists.
