Evans hit 8 3's, leads Buffalo past Cornell, 92-73
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Shannon Evans hit eight 3-points and scored 33 points, both career highs, to lead Buffalo past Cornell 92-73 on Saturday.
Evans made 9 of 14 field goals, including 8 of 11 from 3-point range, and 7 of 8 free throws. Lamonte Bearden and Rodell Wigginton scored 14 apiece and Justin Moss added 11 for Buffalo (9-3), which recorded its highest scoring output of the season. Bearden had a career-high 10 assists.
Devin Cherry hit a jumper to pull Cornell (6-8) within one with 18 minutes to play, but Will Regan made a layup and hit a 3 to spark a 19-6 run which pushed the Buffalo lead to 63-49 with 12:34 remaining. Cornell didn't threaten again.
Buffalo shot 51 percent from the field and made 11 of 22 from 3-point range.
Cherry scored a season-high 23, including a career-high five 3-pointers, for Cornell,while Shonn Miller had 20 points and 10 rebounds.
