Ball State rallies to defeat Bethune-Cookman 51-48
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Sean Sellers scored 12 points, Franko House hit six late free throws and Ball State rallied to defeat Bethune-Cookman 51-48 on Saturday.
The Cardinals (5-6) trailed by 13 early in the second half, but surged back as Francis Kiapway nailed a 3-pointer and Sellers converted a three-point play to take a 42-41 lead with 6:53 left. After a layup by DeLino Dear and two free throws from Ricky Johnson for Bethune-Cookman (3-11), Sellers drained a 3-pointer to tie it at 45.
House sank two free throws for the lead and hit two more to go up three with 2:00 remaining. Dear hit a pair from the line, but the Wildcats missed a layup, a jumper and turned it over with five seconds left. After two more free throws from House, Brandon Stewart missed a running 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Stewart led Bethune-Cookman with 17 points and Ricky Johnson had 14.
